One of my earliest images, shot on a twin lens reflex camera borrowed from the photo department of the Gamble Institute in St.Helens.
Given a roll of film and the instructions to “go for a walk and photograph what you see” was the perfect way to explore photography in both the “mechanics” sense and also the conceptual sense of recording and re-presenting the world around me.
Birchalls are famous for their pork pies and even today they still have queues outside of people wanting to buy them.
